Sleep Dentistry for Kids

Often times a visit to the dentist can be a terrifying for young children. The whirling sound of the drill or the uncomfortable feeling of pressure on their teeth can drive kids into hysterics. For those children with phobias of visiting the dentist or children that require extensive work, sleep sedation can be a good option.
Younger children who need a lot of dental work benefit most from being put to sleep because the dentist can do all of the treatment at once without leaving the child traumatized from the visit. Some older children with inexplicable fear of the dentist who need wisdom teeth extractions or extensive work can also benefit from being put to sleep.
Our office employs a team of dental surgeons, pediatric dentists, and anesthesiologists skilled in many forms of sedation. We use a dental anesthesiologist to oversee and monitor our patients while a dentist performs the dental procedures.

My little brother is scared of going to the dentist and he needs to have his tooth extracted because it's impacted. It was explained here that it would be a great benefit if the child is sleeping because dental work can be done with ease. Moreover, it's recommended to go to trusted dentists for sleep dentistry.

My nephew is afraid of going to the dentist because he is relating the clinic to pain and this makes him anxious. It was explained here that sleep dentistry is beneficial to those children who needs a lot of dental work. Having said that, it's best to go to a trusted dentist when considering dental sedation.

Thank you for sharing such a nice and informative knowledge with us.
Often called “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is a very safe, mild sedative that will help your child remain relaxed during dental procedures. Your child's dentist will give the sedation with the use of a “space mask,” which carries air (oxygen) mixed with the medication.

I thought that it was interesting when you explaind that children who are in need of a lot of dental work to be done will benefit from being put to sleep so that they don't get overwhelmed with the experience. I have been thinking about taking my children to the dentist more regularly but I have been worried that the situation would overwhelm them. I will be sure to take them for their dental work now that I understand that putting them to sleep is an option for creating a more calm experience.

I've been planning to bring my 5 y/o kid to the dentist so she can have her first annual dental check-up. I'm getting anxious because I don't know if my child is scared or not scared of the dentist. I'll be sure to keep in touch with a dentist that can offer a sleep sedation method so that my child can comfortably sleep while the dental procedure is on-going.

Thank you for pointing out that having children sedated through the procedure could be the best way to get the work done. My brother has been worried about his kid's teeth. I think that this could be a solution for him.

I liked it when you said that sleep sedation is a great way for dentists to work on kids' teeth when they are scared. I agree with this because the dentist could mess up and accidentally hurt the kids if they aren't cooperating. I hope that all parents can understand this and be okay with the dentist sedating their children.

It was interesting when you said that children who need lots of dental work could benefit from sedation. One of my nephews need some dental work, but he is afraid of the dentist. I will recommend my sister looking for a sedation dentistry in her area to take her son for his dental work.

I think it's great to know that we can have sleep sedation for children who have a fear of going to the dentist. My son is scared of dentists and that's why we haven't been able to bring him to a dentist for regular checkups. Recently, he complained to me of a toothache which I thought probably needed an extraction. I will try looking for a dentist that can help my son in overcoming his fear and help with his toothache.

Sleep dentistry is indicated in uncooperative child, specially dentist cannot perform in local anaesthesia, but i would suggest to read child teeth care age wise guide >>https://sanjivanidentalcare.co.in/child-teeth-care-at-home/
